Christmas in Florence

Published on December 16, 2013 by admin

Hello,

just a few images of how’s like being in Florence at Christmas.  A  walk from via dei Servi to the Duomo: here is the traditional Christmas tree, by the Battistero, and a new lovely terracotta crèche. I could not help taking a picture of  Giotto’s Campanile, even more attractive in the sunset pinkish light. And then…away with some window-shopping. To cheer you up, here are some of the most glamorous windows: Gilli’s, the famous cafè, Vestri, fantastic for chocolate, and its new premises nearby, and then the “golden area” of the designers: Dolce e Gabbana in glittering gold, Cartier with a beautiful traditional decoration, Vuitton , just in front, with amazing red windows, Bottega Veneta with a christmas tree decorated with luminous bags, and…the Palazzo Strozzi, floodlit and beautiful. I add some photos of Via Tornabuoni, the nice Procacci grocery, and, to finish with, a more modest impression of an old Florentine square: simple, but maybe more touching. Enjoy!
