The “Scuola Grande della Misericordia”

“New” in Venice means ” renovation” of something ” old”.
In fact, the construction process of this interesting building, began in the 16th century, then it  stopped and restarted several times.
Never completed ,especially in the exterior, it underwent improper use, and finally became a gym, before the present renovation and restauration  restitute it to the city.

Original project by Sansovino: an emotional, dramatic huge space, with typical use of columns on the gound floor- prospectical frescoes by Veronese and his school on the upper floor.
The restoration is beautiful and refined, with use of Corten steel for the flooring and the designed staircase.

It is visitable- free admission. It will host cultural events, conventions, exhibitions.
