The Palazzo

The apartment is set in the proximity of the ancient Arsenale, on the ground floor of Palazzo Grandiben. This palace constitutes an important example of an early gothic dwelling. Notably the loggia with five arches in the piano nobile and the narrow wings give credibility to the 14th century attribution. Built for the important family Grandiben, in 1630 was bequethed by the last of the Grandibens to her sister, married to a Negri, hence the name "Grandiben Negri " the Palazzo still has.
The Palazzo has recently undergone renovation to restore its beautiful gothic facades.The monumental hall still shows one of the tallest marble colums in Venice. You can see the "porta d'acqua", the front door opening onto the canal
